These mystical patterns had different names in different languages, but they essential played the same role. It is called Kolam in Tamil Nadu, Rangoli in Kannada, Marathi & Hindi , Alpana in Bengali and Muggulu in Telugu.
These Kolams | Rangoli | Muggulu | Alpana changed everyday - they are the same.
They change with days of the week or time of the day, they change with seasons and occasions, they change with placement - inside or outside the home. They change from celebration to celebration & they also make everyday a celebration!

Guidelines & Requirements
ELIGIBILITY :
1) The Traditional Kolam Competition is Open to Indians from Across the globe - residents as well as Non Residents
2) The competition is open to adults only : 18 years
3) While Women are predominant participants, male participation is both welcome and encouraged
4) The Kolam can be a traditional Padi Kolam, Pulli Kolam or Sikku Kolam or freehand rangoli. Please choose from the correct drop down menu while uploading your pics
5) Depending on your proficiency, Participants can either participate in beginner, intermediate or expert levels
6) There will be 5 Prizes in Each category, of varying value
7) Each Participant has to submit 2 entries
How to submit entries
- A clear colour photograph of the Kolams, with good clarity has to be submitted
- Along with a time lapse video of upto 2 minutes has to be uploaded in the following format
- Participant has to show themself into camera, with a full face and body view
- Participant has to draw the kolam and film in time lapse mode ( can be on the mobile )
- Total length of the Video will be 2 minutes only
- The Kolam being filmed in the video has to be the one that is submitted
- The face and body of the participant making the kolam has to be visible throughout the 2 minute duration of the video
Terms & Conditions
- Competition Fee : 349 Rupees. No refunds will be provided once the fee is paid
- The decision of the judges is final and binding on all participants and no further questions on the same shall be entertained
- File Formats : JPG, JPEG, PNG with maximum size of 5 MB for each photograph
- Winners will be required to furnish government approved proof of identity & residence & as a precaution to prevent fraud, may also be asked to open bank accounts to receive prizes. Local tax rules as applicable for cash prizes. Declaring and paying taxes is the participants responsibility.

Jury Information
The Kolam Queen Competition is judged by an expert Jury Panel. This enables artists to get a well rounded perspective on their art and also all round exposure. To preserve the sanctity of the competition & the jury process, the names of our expert jury panel will not be made public until after the results are out.
The final result will be a combination of Jury Panel and public votes in a predefined ratio. It is in the interest of the participant to forward the entries once published onto Social Media handles, generate maximum interest & votes for their work.
All votes should be on the Aarts Maestro Platform only. Social media likes do not count as votes on the Aarts Maestro Platform. Aarts Maestro Fair Voting Policies require all those who vote to create an account, log-in and vote.
